TNT HOSTS OLYMPIC LEGEND
Olympic legend and triple gold medal winner, Rowdy Gaines, is coming to the Bounds Family YMCA to give a swim clinic for our team on Saturday, June 16 from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Bounds Family Y.
While the clinic is open to the public, it will definitely be a great opportunity for our swimmers to learn champion performance techniques from one of the nation’s foremost swim clinicians, including in water instruction on the four competitive swimming strokes. You will also be able to ask questions, get autographs and take photos with Rowdy. Swimmers will also receive a T-shirt, DVD, and other souvenirs.
If you have not singed up yet, remember that registration ends June 9 and is limited to the first 70 participants. Parents and coaches are welcome to watch the clinic at no charge.
A WARM RECEPTION
A reception for Rowdy Gaines will be held at the home of Mary Beth and Coach Jan on Friday evening, from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. Parents of TNT swimmers who are attending the clinic are welcome and will have an opportunity to meet and talk to our guest. A warm welcome to level 2 swimmer, Natalie Faircloth, age 10, who will be a 5th grade student at CKCSnext August. You are going to have a lot of fun and learn to swim really fast!

SUMMER KICK OFF PARTY
TNT kicks off the summer with our second annual summer pool party. The event will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Rock Creek Club pool. Pizza will be provided by the team and families are asked to please supply side dishes. Last names A – L please bring dessert and M – Z a salad. EXTRA SPECIAL
We are proud of our children for their accomplishments both in and out of the pool. Thank you to parents of TNT who provided extracurricular highlights of their swimmers for inclusion in this month’s newsletter.
Adele Mantiply was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society at Christ the King Catholic School. She also won second place and a $75.00 prize in the 7-9th grade level of the Citrin Law Firm's Constitutional Law Essay Competition. The competition was open to students throughout Mobile and Baldwin Counties. As a winner, Adele attended the Law Day awards ceremony, where all winners read their essays.
Tommy O’Hara ran his second 5k race on Easter weekend, and he finished second in the 12 and under division. He finished first in the 1st/2nd grade division and was awarded the Best Overall medal in a poetry contest sponsored by the Daphne Library. His poem will be on display at Barnes and Noble. He also plays outfield, third base, pitcher and second base as a member of the Daphne Braves. He recently made his First Communion at Christ the King Church on April 29th
Boyd Turnipseed earned his Arrow of Light as a Webelos Scout on Sunday, April 29th. He is now a Boy Scout with Troup 109 in Spanish Fort.
Ben Turnipseed earned his Bear rank and is now a Webelos Scout with Pack 177 in Spanish Fort.
Emily Nix won 3rd prize in the "Eastern Shore Color by Kids" middle school division, sponsored by Springhill Memorial Hospital. Her art work will be displayed at the Daphne Public Library in May and June and the Fairhope Public Library in August.
Anna Ramsey made the 7th grade volleyball team at Daphne Middle School. She also received a superior rating for both her solo and duet performance on clarinet at the Solo and Ensemble Festival held at Mary G. Montgomery High School in Mobile.
Simon Boles was awarded the President’s Award for Educational Excellence at Fairhope Intermediate School.
Ashley Kinsey was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society at Christ the King. She also played soccer for Christ the King school team.
Thomas Kinsey was inducted into the Academic Letter Club at Fairhope High School. Also, he finished the high school soccer season as goalie for Fairhope High School Varsity team.
Jordan Doucet, Griffin Fisk and Kyle Simpson were all nominated to attend a Junior National Young Leaders Conference to recognize academic achievement and leadership ability this summer in Washington DC. All were nominated by faculty at their schools.
Ryan Simpson stroked an ESPN highlight double for his first hit as a minor leaguer, and then followed that with a 2-hit game and an RBI in the next game. His team, the A’s, are having a strong season so far.
Kyle Simpson participated in an annual boat race in Fairhope as part of Project Jubilee. The project was to build a seaworthy boat from common materials.
Savannah Ekelund received honorable mention at the Alabama State Piano Auditions held at the University of Montevallo on May 11th and 12th. Savannah was also selected to be a Music Student of the Month for April by the Baldwin County Music Teachers Association.
FEEL THE POWER
TNT’s final Power Point high point totals for the Short Course Season are in. The listing includes performances from April 1, 2006 through April 1, 2007. The Power Point system assigns a point value to each swim for each age level. This point system allows for comparison of the quality of performances across strokes, distances and events, as well as between age groups.

LONG COURSE SOUTHEASTERN QUALIFIERS
TNT currently has 10 qualifiers for the 2007 Southeastern Long Course Swimming Championships, scheduled to be held July 19 – 22 in Nashville, TN. Qualifiers include: Will Anderson, Savannah Ekelund, Griffin Fisk, Lauren Kinsey, Adele Mantiply, J.D. Powell, Tyler Powell, Anna Ramsey, Kyle Simpson, and Ryan Simpson.
