The New Team on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay
Summer 2007
GOING TO THE BIG SHOW
Sixteen swimmers from TNT will be participating in the 2007 Southeastern Long Course Swimming Championships, July 19 – 22 in Nashville, TN. The meet features the fastest age group swimmers from the states of Alabama, Tennessee, and the Florida Panhandle.
Fourteen of our swimmers are entered in a total of 54 individual events and two more will support the team effort by attending the meet as members of the 11 – 12 and 10 & under boys relay teams.
Congratulations to those swimmers representing TNT at the 2007 SES LC Championships.
The meet features a championship format requiring swimmers to compete during morning preliminary sessions, with the top 8 finishers returning in the evening for finals competition. This makes for a very exciting meet with swimmers racing to make finals and then the whole team returning to the pool that evening to cheer for those who qualified. TNT enters the meet with three swimmers already listed in the preliminary top 8.
Kyle Simpson enters the preliminary rounds with six first place rankings in the 11 – 12 boys’ 50 & 100 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 50 & 100 butterfly, and 200 IM. Will Anderson is ranked 4th in the 11 – 12 boys’ 50 and 100 backstroke, 7th in the 100 freestyle and 8th in the 200 freestyle, and Tyler Powell is ranked 7th in the 9 & 10 under 100 breastroke. TNT’s
11 – 12 boys’ 200 medley and freestyle relays are ranked top 8, as is the 11 – 12 girls 200 medley relay. Several more TNT swimmers are within striking distance of making the final rounds.
With less than 15 swimmers entered in individual events, TNT will again compete in Southeastern Swimming’s Small Team Division, which will also make for an exciting meet as TNT tries to add the 2007 Long Course Team Championship title to the Short Course title that the team won back in March. Check the team website each day of the meet for team updates and real time results.
