NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
A warm welcome to new teammates, Hannah Denham, Madison Scharles, Kelsey Quale, and Seth Young. Hannah, age 8 is practicing in level 1. Madison, age 10 is swimming with level 3. Kelsey, age 12 swims with level 5, and Seth, age 7 is in level 1. Congratulations swimmers! You are going to have a lot of fun and swim really, really fast!

EXTRA SPECIAL
Thank you to parents of TNT who provided extra curricular highlights of their swimmers to be included in this listing. We are proud of them for their accomplishments in and out of the pool.
Jefferson Hudson is one of three Commended Scholars for Fairhope High School in the National Merit Scholarship Program, and has been accepted to Auburn University. He also has been selected to the Summer Scrubs Program, which is a pre – med program for high school students sponsored by the Bay Area Health Coalition.
Cameron Milroy earned all A's throughout the school year. She went to Camp Invention in June and is attending Art Camp and Soccer camp in July. She also performed in the Eastern Shore Dance Production of Cinderella on May 20th.
Griffin Fisk and Kyle Simpson were the only two 5th graders to make all A’s for the entire year at Daphne East Elementary. Both students also received the President's Education Award for recognition of Outstanding Academic Excellence and Griffin was awarded the Governor's Physical Fitness Award.
Ryan Simpson earned all A’s for the entire year.
Tyler Powell was awarded honors at Rockwell Elementary School for straight A honor roll, top runner in his class, a trophy for top-two Accelerated Readers in his class, and the National physical fitness award (top 50% in USA).
J.D. Powell was awarded honors at Rockwell Elementary School for Outstanding Student of the Year, Presidential Academics Award, Presidential Physical Fitness award (top 15% of USA and only one in the 5th grade), Citizenship Award, and Running Award.
Adele Mantiply won third place in the Daphne Library Bookmark competition. This is the 2nd year in a row that she has won the contest for CKCS. She also received a trophy as Most Improved at her spring piano recital.
Gabrielle Horst earned a Chorus Award, Citizenship Award, and Perfect Attendance for the year.
Boyd Turnipseed ended the year with all A's, and Ben Turnipseed won first place in the National Handwriting Contest for the state of Alabama as a second grader. The brothers also are progressing in Cub Scouts.
Morgan Foster performed in the Bay Shore Ballet production of Mother Goose on June 10th & 11th at the Foley Civic Center.
Killian Kahalley 'graduated' from preschool and will attend Rockwell in the fall.
Emily and Rachael Nix were both on the A & B honor roll the entire school year and had perfect attendance.
Ashley Szydel, Will Anderson and Jordan Doucet received the Black Belt Award of Excellence in Recorder Karate.
Cameron Grant, Will Anderson and Daniel Doucet earned the National Physical Fitness Award.
Daniel Doucet earned a Certificate of Outstanding Achievement in French and an Award for Service and Sacrifice.
Jordan Doucet received a Student Council Award and a Leadership Award for the 5th grade.
Madison Scharles, who attends Rockwell Elementary, made all A's, one B and received Perfect Attendance for the school year.
Gracey Kahn, made Honors for the 4th quarter and she also received Honor Certificates and President's Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement given to her at Bayside's Eighth Grade Graduation Ceremony.
Patrick Parish, finished the fourth term with all A's and his second half reading assessment grade was 4.2, placing him in the top 1% nationally for first graders. He also received the President's Council on Physical Fitness Award for the 2005-2006 year.
Will Anderson finished 1st place in the Half Mile and 3rd in the Long Jump at Baldwin-Mobile Catholic Schools’ Big Field Day.
Thomas Kinsey swam the 1/3 mile portion of the Grandman Triathlon with Mr. Hudson's team (Jefferson’s dad). He time was about 6:10 (unofficial). They finished first place in the Team Division and seventh overall.
Jordan Doucet went to Camp Cosby for a week and got the "Best All Around Camper" for the entire camp and the Leadership award for her cabin. She got an "Honor Award" for the entire camp, and she also was the first one at camp to master all land and water activities.
Emily Grant received the Headmaster's Service Award at Bayside Academy for the 7th grade. She was also nominated to attend the National Young Leaders State Conference.
Raegan Grant was first place for the year for the entire CKCS Accelerated Reader Program with 536 AR points.
Savannah Ekelund received an outstanding rating and was designated a pre-college Division II winner in the state piano auditions held May 12-13 at the University of Montevallo. More than 470 piano students ages 10-18 participated in the auditions. As the result she wasinvited to perform at the Sate Conference of Alabama Music Teachers on June 10 in Birmingham.
QUALIFIERS
Two more swimmers from TNT recently qualified for the 2006 Southeastern LC Championship Meet, to be held July 27 – 30 at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Boyd Turnipseed and Griffin Fisk both made their cuts at the Tom Lalor Meet in Pensacola the weekend of June 9 - 11. Congratulations to current qualifiers from TNT.
TAKE A SWING AT IT
Several swimmers from TNT has been taking tennis lessons after swimming practice from
10:30 – 11:30 AM from the pros at the Point Clear Tennis Club. The kids having been getting great instruction from a tennis Pro who was ranked among the Top 200 USTA players in the world, extra exercise and are having a lot of fun. CELEBRATING LONG COURSE
TNT’s 2006 Long Course Awards Dinner will be held at the Club House at Point Clear on Tuesday, July 25th at 6:00 PM. This is also the final day of practice for swimmers not attending the Southeastern Championship Meet. Swimmers participating in TNT’s summer program, as well as their family members are invited to attend. All participants will receive membership trophies, and awards will also be presented to Southeastern Championship qualifiers. This should be a fun and rewarding evening, so please plan to attend.

TNT’s 2006 – 2007 short course season begins at the Bounds Family YMCA on Monday, August 14. Registration will be held on Sunday, August 13. Outstanding family account balances must be paid in full prior to registering for the 2006 – 2007 program. HALL OF FAME WEEKEND
Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 7, the weekend of the 2006 Southeastern Swimming Fall Meeting and Hall of Fame Weekend. TNT will be hosting the event at the Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach, to be attended by swimmers, parents and coaches throughout Southeastern Swimming (Alabama, Tennessee, and the Panhandle of Florida). The day includes seminars for swimmers, coaches, and parents by one of the nations leading sports psychologists, Dr. Alan Goldberg, and finishes with a banquet to honor Southeastern Swimming’s Hall of Fame inductees.
