NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCKS

Congratulations and welcome to new teammates, Patrick Haley, age 6, level 1, and Griffin Fisk, age 11, level 3. You are going to have a lot of fun and swim really, really fast.

ANOTHER YEAR OLDER AND FASTER

Happy birthday wishes to TNT swimmers born during the month of December: Emma Kern, 9 on 12/11.  Nicholas Szydel, 6 on 12/15. Chase Knapstein, 9 on 12/17.  Will Anderson, 11 on 12/20.  Jack Sledge, 6 on 12/21.  Alex Hamilton, 9 on 12/26.  Adele Mantiply, 12 on 12/30.

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER

Kudos to those swimmers who were accidentally left off of the TNT Scholar Athlete Honor Roll in the November newsletter: Mia El-Hamaki, Sahra El-Hamaki, Meghan Finney, Cameron Milroy, and Andrew Szydel.  We are proud of you all for your efforts in and out of the pool.

FIRST TIMERS

Congratulations to those swimmers who participated in their first USA swimming meet.  CMSA Fall Invitational:  Mia El Hamaki, Sahra El Hamaki, Connor Funke, Chas Knapstein, Eva Knapstein, and Nicholas Szydel.  PNY Holiday Invitational:  Zachary Miller and Patrick Parish.

SES CUTS

Eight swimmers from TNT have now qualified for the Southeastern Short Course Swimming Championships scheduled to be held March 16 – 19 in Nashville, TN.  Several more swimmers from TNT are taking off time and are getting closer to their cuts with each successive meet.  Congratulations to our current qualifiers:  Will Anderson, Carly Davis, Daniel Doucet, Jordan Doucet, Adele Mantiply, Adrian Novak, JD Powell, and Ashley Szydel.

NAG CUT

Congratulations to Will Anderson, who achieved a National Age Group Top 16 reportable time in the 100 yard backstroke at the EXCEL Meet of Champs. This means that his time of 1:07.71 qualifies to be sent to the USA Swimming national office for possible inclusion in the 2005 – 2006 National Age Group Top 16 Times listing.

SUPER FOOD

Eating right at meets can be a challenge for swimmers.  Host teams normally provide easy selling, tasty items like foods and drinks that are high in sugar and salt, but low in nutritional value.  Over the course of a four hour, two day meet these foods can disrupt the metabolic needs of our youngsters trying to perform their best.  Thanks to parents of TNT, our swimmers have a plentiful supply of nutritious snacks to eat and drink before, during, and after they compete at meets. Special thanks to those parents who have contributed to this team effort thus far:  Andrea Doucet, Jennifer Grant, Sue Garcia, Lynnora Hardin, Marcie Kinsey, Terri Kinsey, Mary Beth Mantiply, Christie Midkiff, and Serena Powell.  Please contact Sue Garcia in order to contribute at future meets:  929-2691 or email her at   garciacrazies@bellsouth.net

THE GOOD GUYS

Fundraising is a normal function at most privately funded organizations and supplements TNT’s comparatively low training fee structure. An effective and relatively painless way of fundraising that is available to our membership is the advertising of businesses through TNT.  Special thanks to those local businesses that support our program by advertising on our web site.  Please visit them at http://www.swimtnt.com/advertisers_page.html

HOLIDAY PRACTICE SCHEDULE

Scheduled group practice days will remain the same over the holidays, but practice hours will be in the morning beginning on Wednesday, December 21.  Normal evening hours will resume on Tuesday, January 3.  Levels 4 & 5 are 8:00 to 10:00 AM.  Level 3 is 10:00 to 11:30 AM.  Levels 1 & 2 are 10:00 – 11:00 AM.

TNT HOLIDAY PROJECT

The TNT swim team is adopting 10 children from Mississippi who have lost everything in the hurricane.  Their ages range from 3-5 years old.  We would like to provide them with clothing, toys and food for Christmas.  In order to simplify this process, we are asking families to make a monetary donation and we will shop for the children.  There is a 6 X 9 envelope in the KINSEY folder for your contribution.  Please make your donation by this Wednesday, December 14th.   We appreciate all you can do to help these children have a memorable Christmas. After we purchase the items, we will have the swimmers wrap the gifts after practice on Saturday, December 17th so they will also feel part of this special project.
